CAN Bus Products
Techmor CAN products are here.  They are small, lightweight, and powerful, offering a host of new features for evolving measurement systems.  CAN devices allow expansion of systems without consuming analog channels, and simplify wiring with only two wires for communications.

The CAN bus was established in 1986, but it's such a powerful and robust network that it's still a great fit for the newest sensors.  Here are the basics of CAN:

 - Controller-Area-Network - created for automotive communications
 - Broadcast network - all modules can send messages and "listen" to all others
 - Bus Speeds up to 1Mbit/second
 - Excellent reliability in harsh environments
 - Unique message ID numbers
 - Built-in arbitration - traffic is managed, and messages have priorities
 - Filtering - modules can be programmed to accept or ignore messages

Techmor CAN products are crafted from the highest-quality materials and incorporate the latest in technology, providing the user with unmatched performance.  These easy-to-use components can form the building blocks of sensor measurement, or complement an existing professional system.  Also, in this issue, see the link to TechTalk articles, and a sample of other Techmor Products.

New Products

Details

Analog to CAN Converter (AC-1)
Put any analog sensor on the CAN bus with this small, lightweight, in-line module. The Techmor AC-1 provides the ability to read any sensor, without an additional analog channel.  Provides a simple way to access a measurement.  Expands existing systems.  Saves wiring and money.

Details

Strain-Gage Amplifier to CAN (SG-1)
Amplify a low level signal and transmit on the CAN Bus.  This in-line amplifier applies a gain and offset, then digitizes the signal to a 16-bit value for the ultimate in precision and robust measurement of strain gages, load cells, torque cells, and pressure sensors.

Details

Tire Temperatures to CAN (TS-1)
Measure tire temperatures using this carbon fiber, triple infra-red sensor.  Internal microcontrollers provide ambient temperature compensation.  Accurately tracks inner, middle, and outer tread temperatures for chassis setup, and tire analysis.
16-bit CAN output available for each sensor.

Details
Inertial Measurement Unit (IM-1)
Extremely lightweight and rugged inertial unit features high-resolution, high-stability gyros and accelerometers to accurately and precisely track the motion of any vehicle or platform.  3rd-generation Silicon Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) system features factory calibration, orthogonal alignment, and temperature compensation. 6 Degrees of Freedom.  Range is +/- 300 deg/s and +/12g.  Output is high-speed CAN messages.

Details

CAN Bus to USB Converter (CU-1)
Access a high-speed CAN bus. The Techmor CU-1 provides the ability to read and interface a PC with CAN data.  The CU-1 can be used for logging, diagnostics, and system testing.  Standard USB connector for PCs/Laptops/and Netbooks.

Details
CAN Commander PC/Netbook Software (CC-1)
View, log and create CAN data data.  Easy-to-use software works with the Techmor CAN Bus to USB Converter (CU-1) to watch a single channel, or build a complete logger system.  Simply connect any Techmor CAN sensor to the PC or Netbook, and get started.

LASER Wheel Angle Measurement (LA-1)
The Techmor LASER Wheel Angle Measurement System (LA-1) provides precision, non-contact measurement of wheel steering angles, and camber angles. For use on tracks or rigs.  Measures Toe, Bump-Steer, Ackerman, Camber Gain, Rear Axle Steer, and more.
The System Includes a LASER generator, which mounts on the wheel center, and a LASER receiver, which mounts on the chassis.  The resultant measurements (2 angles) are output as analog voltages, CAN messages, RS232 serial, wireless, or USB.

Details
Tire Pressure Measurement (TP-1)
Measure Tire Pressures with high accuracy.  System uses the Techmor Wireless Link  to measure  pressure on-track. Highest quality aerospace pressure sensor, with Titanium valve stem mount.

Details
Wireless Link Modules (WL-1)
Use as a cable replacement for 0-5V analog signals, or choose from a variety of pressure, load-cell, temperature, LCD screens, USB, and digital CAN bus models

Details
Steering-Wheel Torque Sensor (SW-1)
Steering Wheel Quick-Release Coupler with internal torque sensing.  Output signal is proportional to driver-applied torque.  Can be combined with an SG-1 (sold separately) for 0-5V output.

Details
Strain-Gage Amplifier (SG-1)
Amplify strain-gage, load-cell, torque-cell, or pressure sensor outputs to convert a mVolt output to a 0-5V high-level signal.  Gain from 70 to 1280 and offset up to 5V for bi-directional loads or torques.

Details

Splitter Support (SS-1)
Measure front splitter loads in tension (downforce), and compression (track contact). These load cells connect the splitter to the bumper, to gather information for car setup.  Standard load range is 250lb tension, 1000lb compression.  0-5V output.

Details

Current Sensor (CS-1)
Measure electrical current from -120A to 120A.  Simply run a DC cable through the ring, and the unit output (0 to 5V) is proportional to current. Applications include current measurement of batteries, alternators, fans, pumps, chillers, etc.

Details
